Curious to read the criticism of this bc this is a p good film about Elvis. And I’ve seen a few plus grew up with him. Austin Butler is fantastic. When the film cuts to the actual footage of Elvis during that Unchained Melody performance it really got me. My only nits are Tom
Hanks who was like a cartoon character and so distracting and awful (besides that character being awful). Every time he’s onscreen which is most of the time it’s “oh that’s Tom hanks in a shit ton of makeup.” Just not good.
The other nit is the movie is long and mostly breezes by but everything after the Las Vegas residency really slows it down. It’s all good stuff but I’d be okay if they just cut all out and go from Parker’s shady Vegas deal straight to the end with his VO describing the last Elvis performance over that Unchained Melody scene.
