On my return flight back to Colorado the plan was to view one of the horror movies I downloaded for the trip but I finally got on a good plane that had a pretty wild selection on in-flight VOD films including a whole bunch of Asian movies both recent and older (like HEROIC TRIO of all things!!). Some of these newer films would be unlikely to get any sort of release in NA including this one based on the TV show of the same name, which to my knowledge hasn’t appeared here.
So I decided to watch it bc it was the exact length to complete it before the flight was over and I like the cast which includes pop group star Jun Matsumoto who I haven’t seen in a while bc he mostly does TV work but watched a few of his early series. Also Teruyuki Kagawa who usually plays a creep of some sort but here he runs the law firm. Hidetoshi Nishijima is another main character and I really like him from DRIVE MY CAR and OZ LAND.
Unfortunately the story isn’t all that compelling as the law firm is investigating a murder that occurred 15 years in the past involving poisoned wine at a winery. It’s fine just not the most exciting premise but everyone is doing good work here and there are some nice emotional beats. That said, this really is more like a double episode or two-parter of the television show.
