A former burglar trying to go straight joins a rehabilitation scheme using much the same methods as AA. Through the process, he takes work as a department store Santa, where the endless parade of goods and money, not to mention the pretty young shop hands have him like a moth to a flame in no time flat.

Finished viewing this after getting home from the Pringle’s and it’s definitely a Christmas movie but not exactly as the description indicates. Our lead fellow has a bad habit of stealing things so his fiance has him committed to a special treatment facility that feels right out of THE PRISONER, where the men are addressed as Brother Montague and the like. Once out of treatment the fellow (Leslie Phillips) works security at a department store during the holidays. He’s tempted by a few offers but sticks to being clean until the opportunity to rob a large sum of money creates a conflict for him and his “brothers”.
Has its charm and humorous moments plus the terrific Julie Christie as the fiance. Perhaps a little too silly at times but a fun off-beat Christmas movie for sure.
