Overview
Bored billionaire executive Thomas Crown entertains himself by stealing a Monet from a reputed museum with an elaborate diversion. When Catherine Banning, the insurance company’s investigator, takes an interest in Crown, he may have met his match, and a complicated back-and-forth game with seductive undertones begins between them.

Viewing Notes
The type of mid-budget, general release, mainstream movie targeting adults that we don’t see much of anymore getting released for the big screen. And back when movies like this, an R-rated romance/crime drama, could do well at the box office. Budget around $40million and grossed over $150million, if this were released today I’d be surprised if it cracked $10million. Crazy how much things have changed in 20 years.
Never watched this before but saw it get mentioned in my TL for those reasons so I requested the DVD from my library. It’s a solid slight cat and mouse caper with some fun, predictable interactions between the primary leads. Rene Russo is a lot of fun and naked, which surprised me, but good on her for enjoying the role despite how it paints her character as somehow lesser than Brosnan’s Thomas Crown. A general crowdpleaser.
