Viewing Notes

Even better on the second viewing. Was able to focus on other parts of the frame and relish the filmmaking + technical expertise of the action and performances. The floating camera over the dragon breath sequence is stunning work. The story is pure fantasy gobbledygook but the action is a lesson in moviemaking.

Definitely recognized Saori Izawa doing the stand-in duty for Akira (Rina Sawayama). When you see those moves it makes sense and was a good call to get her in the movie. I know she doesn’t have the level of celebrity or fame as Rina but they should’ve just cast Saori as Koji’s daughter. That would’ve been so badass.

Enough cannot be said about how fucking good Scott Adkins is as Killa. All his expressions and utterances are hilarious and perfect for that character. Love that entire five card draw scene. Now I just want the UHD so I can watch certain scenes and moments over and over.
