RIP Ryuichi Sakamoto
MUBI placed this film in their spotlight section after the news of Sakamoto’s passing. Was going to revisit anyways but nice to see it prominently featured when logging on.
Definitely hits differently now yet still as poignant and illuminating. Would love to see a feature that compiles all the seventies and eighties clips of his performances and observations on Japan. We get only a glimpse of them here.
Ofc all the film score work shown here is excellent. Makes me wanna watch The Revenant rn. Among other movies he scored. Such a powerhouse of a creator and a human. Huge loss to the world.
