Overview
Bent on the destruction of the human race, the secret underground organization Shocker secretly planned to plunge the world into chaos. But they didn’t count on the revolt of both of their experimentally “reconstructed” human beings, the Kamen Riders. Two years after their first battle with Shocker, a 3rd Rider arises to confront them, known only as “Version 3.” The arrival of the third Kamen Rider will hurl the heroes into their most terrible battle yet and the fate of the world hangs in the balance.

Viewing Notes
Revenge Day! for Junesploitation and wasn’t planning to choose this film for it but it sorta chose me. DKU programmed THE FIRST and THE NEXT back to back as they usually do and as I was viewing noted that this was a revenge story; Chiharu taking revenge on those girls that wronged her and anyone else in her way. She’s the J-horror element of this story and I love it. Such a different KR film that all the others bc of that element, too. Also, the not so subtle commentary on obsessive idol culture is nice as well.
Ofc when Ichimonji first appears I’m very happy but still don’t get how he is alive w/o his transfusions he notes in the previous movie. The entire reimagining of the origin of V1, V2 and V3 is so good here and in THE FIRST. Costuming and suit work is exceptional. My memory is shit, ofc, but I believe this is first time I realized that Chainsaw Lizard (Rie Mashiko) is Shiro’s corporate assistant before they get the Shocker nano-infection. That’s fucking cool cuz she’s a badass.
Oh yeah, it’s still so weird for Hongo to be hanging out with his female student and stalking her and whatnot. Like, anyone at school seeing this would be WTF???
That the new Shocker base is below a restaurant will never not be funny to me. Anyways, I need both of these movies on Blu or at least DVD so I can stop viewing them every time DKU programs them.
