Viewing Notes

Blaxploitation Day! for Junesploitation and another lazy theme day… “oh it’s Juneteenth so let’s make it blaxploitation ha ha” jfc

Anyways I chose this sequel to BLACK BELT JONES since I hadn’t seen it. Turns out this isn’t blaxploitation but rather SE Asia-ploitation but rather being shot in the Philippines it’s set in Thailand as a stand in for some other country that has jungle criminals. But it’s certainly adjacent and a sequel to a blaxploitation film so it counts.

Definitely a step down from the previous movie and far too much of a goofy comedy to take seriously. But there’s some fun moments and decent action adventure. Jim Kelly did all the action choreography. He’s great and so amazing how much he influenced Michael Jai White’s BLACK DYNAMITE.

Given everything else I’m surprised no boutique label has released these two films in a nice package. I’d love to have a loaded Blu set.
