Viewing Notes

Back into this series and had forgotten so much of this film so I guess it was a good revisit. Still not crazy about even with Gilroy at the helm. The entire first act is dreadfully slow and uninteresting. Completely forgot that Oscar Isaac was in this but what a fucking waste of his talent.

Things pick up with the siege on the house but if these agents were sent to kill Marta (Rachel Weisz) then why all the dumb posturing and stalling with the questions? Makes no sense. Just show up and kill her. Expected better of Gilroy’s screenplay. Just have the agents show up then Aaron appears at the same time to stop them. Cuts right to the action.

That’s probably my biggest nit is that this is overstuffed (act1) and needed to get to the action and thrills sooner. The entire third act is a scorcher tho I do wish the Manila chase was shot/edited better to give a greater sense of the geography. But it’s fun as is all the government peeps doing their surveillance and tracking as per the usual Bourne trope. That’s all the fun stuff we’ve come to enjoy with these films. That entire first act business is such a drag and an awful way to start this movie.
