Had read that this French remake of One Cut of the Dead was taking a different approach but really this is the same movie with only a few different story beats. It’s interesting bc in this story the movie is intentionally being remade and alludes to the Japanese film and even has one of the JP actors here as an advisor, Yoshiko Takehara, the short odd looking woman. If I hadn’t already seen One Cut this may have been more effective. Alas it just works as an amusing remake and tribute to that film with mostly less interesting actors. The director is great tho and some of the gore gags are hilarious. A little shocked this got into a multiplex and it was AMC Flatiron.
