During the chaotic rule of Qin Shi Huang ruled China, his Qin Dynasty is about to be usurped by Zhao Gao. For a time, heroes came together to guard the Ding Qin sword that could stabilize the country, so as not to fall into the hands of the enemy., Ji Lian a loyal subject of the Qin Dynasty did not retreat from the untold fighters sent by the wicked Zhao Gao, and vowed to stick to the last moment of life to safeguard the sword and the Qin dynasty.

Viewing Notes
Much like other films in this current wave of China produced period piece actioners this is very stylized and slick, to its detriment. Some the digital FX are a little sloppy (most noticeably when someone gets stabbed or pierced with a digital sword) and the over attention given to slo-mo or just trying to look cool over just developing a solid story with good characters is annoying So the premise / characters involved is muddy at times.
Fortunately the main plot of “we have a VIS - very important sword - that must not fall into the wrong hands” is clear enough and has some decent action beats to keep it engaging. It’s a good vs. evil at its core but all the grey areas don’t prop it up very well… a la “is that good character or bad character?” and “why is that character doing that thing?” The cat and mouse chase is pretty fun; wish the whole movie was more that.
