The live action cartoon humor wears thin on this revisit, which I thought would be the case when I saw this in theater; would it hold up on subsequent viewings? Not really. Doesn’t help that I also recently rewatched the first movie and this is just more of the same so it loses its edge.
That said, this movie still has its moments and Statham is 100 percent on board w/being Chev Chelios. I like Bai Ling a lot in this despite portraying this kind of racial stereotype; she has the right energy to make it work. Kinda sad, however, that this was probably her last high profile film and this character didn’t help her, I’m sure. Could say the same for Clifton Collins Jr but he’s a better chameleon.
