Viewing Notes

Soft 6 out of 10 bc the martial arts action is pretty good plus this has a short runtime and gets right to it. No fat.

But this is more like a 5/10 bc it’s telling the same story we’ve seen so many times: Ip Man without having Ip Man. Japanese start a karate school that pisses off the locals and a challenge goes out to stage a fight between the JP commander and the best kung fu guy in the town. Ofc it’s rigged and plays out exactly like you’d expect. Also does this annoying thing* with the final fight that I really dislike in these movies.

Nothing new to see here but decent action direction.

*with all the news reporters covering the fight why the fuck not just say out of the gate “yo I’m severely injured can we postpone” and “oh btw these fuckers kidnapped my wife and kid and told me to throw the fight or they will be killed.” but nope can’t mention any of that in front of all reporters and spectators. Ugh
