A very good film directed by Sonny Chiba with help from Kinji Fukasaku (it def looks like his work). Hiroyuki Sanada and Bunta Sugawara provide the tough guy gravitas but it’s Mika Muramatsu as the rebellious daughter / bear hunter that pulls this story together. She’s really good and plays off Sanada well enough to believe their blossoming relationship.
Could label this as horror since it has some bloody scenes and pure terror at times. Quite a film to be shot on location in the snow and mountains. The bear suit is questionable but still made it menacing enough for this film.
