Cinephile slackers Franz and Arthur spend their days mimicking the antiheroes of Hollywood noirs and Westerns while pursuing the lovely Odile. The misfit trio upends convention at every turn, be it through choreographed dances in cafés or frolicsome romps through the Louvre. Eventually, their romantic view of outlaws pushes them to plan their own heist, but their inexperience may send them out in a blaze of glory—which could be just what they want.

Wanted to view this again bc Richard Roeper mentioned he was watching a movie that was doing the same Madison dance as famously done in this movie, by far its most popular scene and a great one, at that. Then I saw the recent movie THE ADULTS where the siblings to a dance sequence and wondered if that was the movie he was referring to. So I picked this up from the library to view again. It’s quite nice overall but I don’t think they were doing the Madison dance in THE ADULTS. It did lead me to Michel Legrand’s work as a composer so I queued up his essential list for playback later.
Anyways, it was good to revisit this and I watched most of the interview w/Anna Karina (RIP). That was fun.
