This is the kind of animated film you’d watch in primary school, all history education and no humor. Weird flex and perhaps weirder this got a theatrical release (likely due to some studio deal). This is absolutely the type of film that drops on Amazon Prime with zero fanfare. Not good enough for Hulu or Netflix. Maybe Netflix.
That said, I’m all for educational and historical features for kids. Even tho most of this will go over their heads. Couple of kids in my screening were clearly bored but maybe one day they’ll remember this movie and seek it out.
Also mimicking the Rankin & Bass style of stop motion animation gets a rating bump. Just wish this had been as warm and family friendly.
