George Lutz, his wife Kathy, and their three children have just moved into a beautiful, and improbably cheap, Victorian mansion nestled in the sleepy coastal town of Amityville, Long Island. However, their dream home is concealing a horrific past and soon each member of the Lutz family is plagued with increasingly strange and violent visions and impulses.

First time viewing! Automatic half point bump for including Shogun Warrior Dragun (my first jumbo machinder). Was too frightened of this movie when it was released and covered extensively in Famous Monsters so I never watched it. And over the years just didn’t bother despite having seen the remake on DVD.
This is a pretty good movie based on the real life event which was tragic and the family that moved in and experienced unexplained phenomena. That’s probably another thing that kept me away, knowing it was from a true story. Really fucked with my head at the time. Harry is a good boy and the MVP of the movie.
The original house still stands and still resembles this home featured in the movie. The movie was not shot at the original home but one was made up to look like it. The original home is blurred on Google Maps likely from a request of the current owners. But I have to ask… why did anyone keep the original home intact after a man murdered his entire family there????
