Viewing Notes

Another blindspot checked for a movie that gets mentioned so often in my TL this time of year. Now I understand why; this is a fun Halloween movie that goes pretty hard for a made-for-tv flick. This would be a good double with Monster Squad. Very similar vibe.

Sad this hasn’t gotten a proper restoration and release but if I had to guess it’s probably the music rights. Has so many popular tunes especially oldies. Definitely some goofiness in this that feels like it’s trying to be a little like Michael Jackson’s Thriller video.

Probably the most amusing thing is casting adults as teenagers. Like Shari Belafonte was 31yo when this was released. Her teacher Cindy Morgan (TRON!) is the same age! So weird but even more so in this bc the teens couldn’t pass for college students either.  Ah well part of the charm I suppose.
