Viewing Notes
In full-on murder mystery mode so gave this another spin now that I own the DVD. Tsukamoto really loves the Shinjuku skyline, doesn’t he? Here it’s the same shot with the twin towers to the right, not an view you see in films.
My thoughts are still the same as my previous viewing; neat concept that gets a bit muddled before really losing the plot at the end. I watched the BTS making of feature so I know his intent was to make this somewhat confusing. Could’ve cut the finale and tightened it up for a solid 90min thriller.
Cast is great. Still impressed with Hitomi in her first feature film. She must’ve not enjoyed it since she didn’t pursue an acting career after this! So wild. Both Ryuhei Matsuda and Masanobu Ando are great. Tsukamoto looks so young here.
