Viewing Notes
Figured it was time to finally revisit this one… didn’t realize the Blu only has the extended directors cut which is nearly 3 hours long. While watching this I kept thinking that it wasn’t going to end when I was thinking it was 2hrs. Checked the time and saw I had another hour to go. Doh!
This extended cut doesn’t make it any better but we do get more time with this wild cast, who are all fully committed to this nonsense. Uwe really wanted to make his own Lord of the Rings; this is probably his biggest budget ever. Ton of work went into the sets and costumes and VFX.
It isn’t a terrible movie rather it’s often dull and uninteresting. Everything about the story we’ve seen before and done better. Super curious what all these actors have to say about this project and what it was like to make the film.
