Only learned of this movie recently and fired it up for one reason only (easy to guess) and yet it turns out this is a pretty fun flick. Wish I had selected it when in was in ABQ bc I think Hannah would dig it. It’s a Japanese influenced animated movie where cats (or dogs) replace people in an Edo period-like Japan.
It’s all cats but when a small town requires a samurai for protection, as a joke they are sent a lone dog (Michael Cera). The dog believes he is a samurai but isn’t so an elder skilled cat (Sam Jackson) in the village becomes his sensei. Or sifu I guess. Then a bunch of stuff happens.
It’s an Mel Brooks style comedy but aimed at kids, which is a little weird but I enjoyed hearing his voice. And ofc it’s super meta like Blazing Saddles, again weird bc I don’t think kids would understand that or the jokes about filmmaking. But the fart humor they’d get.
The voice I wanted to hear the most unfortunately doesn’t get enough lines but still great to hear her.
