Pretty much exactly as described in the synopsis. Having been in Los Angeles and familiar with the theaters there I’m aware of the Laemmle chain but haven’t been to one. The history and story behind the theaters and this family is fine. I appreciated more of the context within the filmmaking business over the struggles of running a theater. Perhaps I’ve just become inured to the loss of cinema and small businesses given how much we’ve witnessed over the last 10+ years. Sad as that is.
Probably the most ignorant line uttered in this documentary by some dork, “I’d rather there be no Laemmle theaters than a Laemmle theater without a Laemmle involved.” (Because most of the narrative is about selling the theater chain)
