Felt like revisiting after watching a few giallo films yesterday. Wasn’t high on this when it was released but viewing it tonight I’m more forgiving of its shortcomings. Instead of focusing on those I appreciated what it does offer and the context it presents. (That said my previous notes still stand)
It’s wonderful to see all these filmmakers discuss these movies and this period in cinema history. We get Fulci’s recording with his comments on Argento but nothing from Argento. I’m sure they had to ask him so perhaps he didn’t want to comment on Fulci.
This documentary could’ve been twice as long especially given how abruptly it ends. Wondering if they planned a part two and abandoned it. Ofc now I want to revisit all these movies after I just told myself we’re not doing another giallo rewatch event. ~sigh~
