Amazing that after the packed screenings last week for this installment (I checked and most of the screens were nearly soldout) that the IMAX is empty now. Guess everyone that wanted to see this watched it opening day / weekend. Ah well it was nice not having ppl around me (there were 3 other ppl in the screening).
I didn’t recall a thing from last year’s installment but all these Demon Slayer films are compilations of the TV series which had me wondering why the fans would bother. But when the movie started I got it. They optimized the show to make full use of the IMAX screen and it looks beautiful. So brightly colorful and loads of action. I’m not a huge fan of modern anime styles but this really does look nice on an enormous screen. The story is pretty easy to follow having seen previous films and the first episode. Seeing this movie did persuade me to watch the series, which I will do.
I’m still amazed that this is such a huge anime hit in Japan. The story isn’t really all that special and so similar to other anime.
