Viewing Notes

This popped up in the number one spot on a recent list by Nightmare on Film Street entitled “top ten obscure horror films from the 1970s” but it’s not available streaming anywhere. Couldn’t find any recent dvd or Blu release but I’m sure one of these labels is working on it. The restoration published on YT looks very nice despite the blocky artifacts.

This is a cool slow burn movie that feels influenced by Persona (tho I haven’t seen that one in a long while) but was also likely an influence for Peter Strickland’s Duke of Burgundy (Chiara D’anna resembles Angela Pleasence in this film). Easily the most subdued film I’ve seen by Larraz but I haven’t seen much of work from this time period.
