Viewing Notes
Another ideal movie night movie. Initially wrote that it wasn’t available on Blu but I’ve since learned that it is! Will definitely be buying this for a future movie night!
It stars Tse Miu who portrayed Jet Li’s son in My Father is a Hero aka The Enforcer, among other films as a child actor. Now he’s a grownup action star and I want to watch more of his recent films.
This is the type of hero story I love; hero gets drawn into a bad situation and faces a powerful evil gang / family / etc. A lot of the action is quite splendid but I’m still not fond of the quick edits and those pullback wires used to make dudes fly backwards after getting kicked or whatever. Rarely looks real. Ofc this is heightened action and calls back to Zatoichi and his amazing skills as a blind swordsman.
Like the Zatoichi series they need to produce one of these every year for the next decade. Plenty to mine from the basic premise.
