Overview

Kid is an anonymous young man who ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. Viewing Notes

Soft 7 out of ten for Dev Patel’s on screen presence and bringing the action. Dev Patel the director shows promise but needs to learn how to give up his babies. Trim 15-20 minutes and this would be a fast paced lean mean fighting thriller. He’s got the lighting correct but he let all those Korean thrillers get in his head; no need to remind the audience ad nauseam why you’re doing what you’re doing.

It takes a long time to get to the heart of the matter but delivers when it finally gets there. Just needs to be tightened up. The first act recalls BLUE RUIN then it sags until the finale, which is quite fun.

I dunno why the runtime is listed as 113 bc on AMC it’s 121 and it is in fact 2 solid hours.

LOL someone already updated the runtime.
