Viewing Notes

The not so secret screening—was p easy to guess based on the description. I asked Jason about it last week and he confirmed but also indicated that this was the dubbed US release not the original Drunken Master II, which was fine bc it’s still a great movie. We got the theater treatment for this one as it was booked in the VAC basement so that was nice. I sat up very close which was a mistake bc this transfer was shit. A great example of a movie that is in desperate need of a restoration. Looked like watching the Dimension dvd release projected on the big screen (wouldn’t be surprised if that were the case).

Will never not be delightful to watch a movie at IFS when the majority there have not seen it. Almost everyone in attendance (for a free screening) had not seen the film. Not surprising since most were students. Sorry to report, however, Jason’s intro was weaksauce. “Alita Mui” and not a single mention of Ti Lung or Lau Kar-leung, who stars and directs this beast. I was sitting so close to the front I almost yelled out both of them but didn’t want to be that guy.
