In the early days of the Republic of China, Sun Yicheng, a returned medical graduate student, came to Miwu Town to deliver epidemic prevention medical supplies to the local clinic. Unexpectedly, the quarantine area and town were successively attacked by monsters that day. In order to protect the survivors, Sun Yicheng and Dr. Zuo worked together to successfully kill the monster. And Dr. Zuo finally found a formula to treat the plague, proving that the plague is a disease, not a curse among the superstitious population.

Viewing Notes

Second Chinese dragon movie today and another about a pandemic or epidemic in this case and a possible curse surrounding it. Whereas the previous film I watched, Catch the Dragon, was certainly a reaction to the coronavirus pandemic this movie having been released was either produced before the virus or during it, which would be really wild. Given the number of actors extras involved this had to have been made before the virus cripple the world but I’m also kinda wondering if they knew something was up when they crafted this story.

The “dragon” monster is much better rendered here (a two year older film, I might add) and looks like a cross between a Gila and Komodo dragon; it’s ugly! Yet it moves way too fast for something that size which was annoying. Weightless is a kaiju movie killer. This is better looking and better produced movie than Catch the Dragon but I like it less for the quick monster dragon and heavy handed epidemic story.
