Viewing Notes

This is the short film I discovered by accident when I was viewing a trailer for another JP horror film. It was recommended on YT so I saved it then looked it up. Wasn’t in TMDb (no surprise) but not in IMDb either, which was a little surprising given this is a known director who directed over a dozen horror features in the aughts (and these are known actors). So I added it to TMDb.

This short film is very much in the vein of the Ju-on films. These young women go to check in on their co-worker and begin to see and experience strange phenomena in the home then outside of the home. It’s a good spooky little movie.

Tomobiki is loosely defined in Buddhism as “Funerals were avoided this day, but private gathering of friends were considered OK.” The literal meaning is “friends pulling”. The cultural definition more closely describes this movie: Good luck in the morning and the night, but bad luck during daytime. When some bad things have happened to you, your friends also got involved.
