Viewing Notes

Fun movie that starts “okay” then gets more amusing as it goes along. Overstays its welcome with one bit too many at the end, an unnecessary side story that despite being clever is just too much in an already long film. Should’ve kept this at a clean 100 minutes and just stuck that extra bit in the bonus features as a cookie (it doesn’t have any impact on the main story of the wedding).

Also does this interesting thing where the movie starts with what you believe will be the key leading actors (the couple getting married) but halfway thru the wedding planner (Ryoko Shinohara) becomes the main character. Thought this was pretty neat and it was great to see Ryoko again.

This would’ve been a good one to watch with Yumi as I’m sure she’d have a lot hilarious comments and criticism. My favorite moment is the wannabe director friend (Akiyoshi Nakao) that is asked to make the wedding movie with complete freedom to do whatever and turns it into a serious Russian influenced romantic tragedy. Big LOL when that thing started rolling at the reception.
