Viewing Notes

Absolutely love this movie. Just hit on so many things I love about these kind of films set in a period with a particular style and way of communicating. And, bonus it’s set in Chicago and the Midwest. Ron had already told me it was filmed in Cincinnati but it’s so amusing to me that most of the locations look nothing like Chicago, even during this period. I wouldn’t have guessed Cincy but it’s funny how much it doesn’t look like Chicago. Was a little distracting but more charming bc of the aesthetic they were going for. Wish we would have gotten the Nichols intro.

Jodie Comer is the MVP. No question. Just stellar all around esp. for nailing that accent, which is some great work. Austin Butler continues his unimpeachable run as of late. He may have moved into my top five working actors.

ofc Norman Reedus magically appears halfway thru which is hilarious given his motorcycle tv projects. Thought that subplot was gonna get dark but I’m glad it didn’t with everything else happening. Tom Hardy feels like an extension of his Mad Max. Perfectly fine.

I dunno why AMC Prom put this in a small theater bc the room was packed. Fortunately the audio was calibrated well and it sounded great. Also looked very good. Def a movie I will own. Want to read the book, too.
