Viewing Notes

A middling late period Chuck Connors actioner set and filmed in Mexico. It’s merely fine but has a few bursts of action but nothing really tops the opening sequence. But Connors is fun and apparently Brian Trenchard Smith was co-director on this, which I did not know prior to viewing. Certainly the explosions a la Turkey Shoot have his touch. This feels like the kind of movie that KinoLorber releases on Blu-ray (I don’t know if it has a BD release but I’d get it in a sale simple for the cast, which sadly most are wasted like Henry Silva’s brief appearance).

Most amusing thing (to me) is that Connors is seen early wearing a Cubs hat and I’m like, “automatic 1-point ratings bump!” then he’s in the next scene sporting a Cardinals hat and I’m like “the fuck??” So I guess they just gave him whatever hat on that day to indicate “he’s American, see?”
