Not sure what the critics were on but this movie rocks. Yes, it’s long and it’s not a complete story but, um, that’s in the title “CHAPTER 1” so not really a fair criticism. I thought about it all the home on my 30min drive and kept thinking about it after I got home.
My screening had a decent crowd. I thought of my dad a lot; he would’ve loved this movie. Sad we aren’t getting the sequel next month but hopeful it will get some kind of release. These are the kind of movies you wanna see big with that photography.
I’m already a stan for Sienna Miller going way back to Factory Girl so I was happy she was second billed. She’s great, as expected.
Neat to see another solid Jena Malone performance this year after Love Lies Bleeding then her babyface in Donnie Darko.
Sam Worthington and his NY borough accent is hilarious. I mean, it might as well be his Jake Sully character from AVATAR.
Rooker and his Irish accent is fine, not sure why he needed to have the accent (maybe a future plot point?). Abby Lee, whom I’m generally indifferent about as an actor, gets the unfortunate role of character we don’t like. I’m sure she was happy to get the role in a big feature but a lousy character. Her Australian accent bleeds through at times.
Great seeing Luke Wilson in this. Not great seeing Danny Huston only bc he’s such a prominent figure in YELLOWSTONE and I was hoping this wasn’t gonna be an encore of Yellowstone actors in another Kevin Costner vehicle. Huston I like just not in this movie.
I nearly jumped out of my seat when Isabelle Fuhrman appears. Put her in more movies, please. Genuinely surprised to see Anna from Anna and the Apocalypse in this. Jeff Fahey and Will Patton are always welcome faces.
