Viewing Notes

Generally a fun movie that reads way different now than it did in 1994. I’m sure this was a big crowd pleaser at the time but now it’s clouded with everything that has been revealed since. Def comes off a little cringe in places. Incredible that this movie is 30 years old.

The final big setpiece on the river boat with the poker tournament is the best segment partly bc of all the character actors and legacy actors that populate that sequence. Love seeing William Smith and Doug McClure among others. Nice to see Donner including them (I’m it was his idea over general casting).

Most interesting thing to me is that of the primary actors involved Alfred Molina is the one I’ve seen the most movies of his (more than double of the two main leads, Gibson and Foster). William Smith has the next most views which tells you all you need to know about the kinds of movies I normally gravitate towards. LOL
