Viewing Notes

This is not good but not the 32 percent on TMDb. Not sure when the original 8 Man appeared but I’m guessing before RoboCop? This origin story is riff on RoboCop. he’s a confused good guy robot that has to fight his evil brother robot.

Had they just stuck to action as seen in the animated tv show this could’ve been pretty good. Instead it’s a lot melodramatic nonsense. Also it was dubbed but didn’t really bother me bc I recognized the voice cast (English version produced by Carl Macek so there you go).

Wildest thing is Jo Shishido is the inventor father (so maybe this also borrows from Astro Boy) but I didn’t recognize him until the very end! :( it was a murky transfer and it is that kind of early darkly lit Japanese tokusatsu production.
