Set on an island off the coast, a techno rave party attracts a diverse group of college coeds and a Coast Guard officer. Soon, they discover that their X-laced escapades are to be interrupted by zombies and monsters that attack them on the ground, from the air, and in the sea, ruled by an evil entity in the House of the Dead… Prequel to the House of the Dead video games.

Long overdue revisit… but to be fair I had zero desire to rewatch this bc at the time when we saw this in theater I considered this one of the worst movies ever. Only in recent years (maybe the last two years) when I had the itch to rewatch this. A lot of that due to Jayson Kennedy occasionally pushing it on my TL.
Well I’m glad he’s mentioned it often bc I finally bought it used via eBay after not having any luck at thrifts and pawnshops, which is a little surprising but horror always moves well on the secondary market.
The movie is still goofy but has enough good stuff to make it entertaining. The video game inserts are so damn dumb and take it down a notch. The actors look like replicants of more popular actors of that time so it’s amusing to see this Scooby Gang. Ona Grauer is a total smokeshow and is the replicant of Dina Meyer.
I like the camera work and creatures plus the gore FX. Now I wanna watch the sequel for 31DoH.
