Viewing Notes

a action horror two-fer tonight! (House of the Dead and this) so many shootouts and gunfire. This one is almost like a Equilibrium story but with vampires. Also the gun-kata isn’t as sharp despite having Highlander Adrian Paul as a co-star. In fact, Woodbine is the main lead which is interesting; don’t think I’ve seen him in a lead role. He’s good. The real star is Bai Ling, which is crazy to say, but she’s excellent. This was back when she was cast more for the role than being Asian as she has over the last decade or so. She’s a cool vampire and wears it well.

Sadly the story / execution is so muddled when it has a good premise of bringing a human and vampire together for a buddy cop procedural. The flashback to nazi germany is a distraction and unneeded. Overall very watchable yet lacking. Could’ve been really good.
