Four interwoven stories that occur on Halloween: an everyday high school principal has a secret life as a serial killer; a college virgin might have just met the one guy for her; a group of teenagers pull a mean prank, and a bitter old recluse receives an uninvited guest.

Since the new 4K UHD arrived on time (was released on Oct 29) I decided to end my moratorium* on viewing this excellent movie. Didn’t realize my last viewing of it was six years ago! It is still every much the banger and a fun movie to curl up on the couch during cold evening like tonight and watch for the spooky season esp. Halloween since it takes place all in one night.
It’s amusing how this once “cult film” has risen to the level of a perennial seasonal staple with action figures and ornaments and all types of knickknack items you can find at Spirit Halloween. Ofc it’s no longer a cult film but I love that it found a second life after being initially shelved for 2 years then getting one-off screenings until it hit home video. The 4K UHD special edition is loaded with stuff that I don’t have the time to dig into but perhaps next Halloween I can spend some time on it.
The PQ is good as expected maybe only slightly better than the BD, which I always thought was great. Audio is good, too. The movie itself is great with two thirds of it really firing on all cylinders. For me, the back half is the best (starting when the bad kids take Rhonda to the rock quarry). That entire sequence is 100 percent, 10/10, the best. The next best sequence is Brian Cox in his home dealing with Sam. So fun! Was great to revisit this movie after the six year hiatus.
*after 2018 I decided to stop watching this movie every year on Halloween because it was my number one most watched movie here on MovieLogr. I was just tired of seeing it at the top. LOL
