After viewing GMO again yesterday I decided to watch or revisit Yamazaki’s other films. This is one that I haven’t seen since it hit DVD 20 years ago. I recall really liking it but did not remember a thing about it. The story is a pastiche of a few movies including Terminator, The Matrix and E.T. along with the general yakuza stuff.
It’s fine. Like Yamazaki’s other work this is a bit bloated with some obvious plot devices. Takeshi Kaneshiro is perfectly cast for this role and it’s cool to see him in a Japanese production. The VFX is impressive for its time.
