Viewing Notes

Amazing what a high quality presentation can do for these films. Found an incredible version of this film online, as close to HD as it gets for these and wowza. Looks amazing with deep black shadows and contrasts, which is what you want to see from these very visual and gothic films.

I just mentioned earlier how Vohrer sprinkles humor in his adaptations of Wallace’s work; well this “sequel” is a parody of his own work. From the word go he’s poking fun at this gothic murder mystery framing and having a ball doing it. The disguises are ridiculous. Kinski is ridiculous. Such a fun movie.

Since I have such a beautiful copy of this in its original German language we may need to do a double feature in Secret Cinema, Der Hexer and Neues vom Hexer!
