Thrilled to see this on the big screen, the first classic Jet Li film I’ve seen big and certainly long overdue. Entire time I was wondering why there hasn’t been rep screenings for Li’s classic period. His entire nineties run should be in regular rotation.
Anyways, what a difference seeing this big; it filled the entire screen at Muenzinger (many don’t!). It was (almost) like seeing this for the first time. Even having watched it 2 years ago. Felt a lot more serious, too, with real stakes. Also easier to see Li’s stunt double Xiong Xin-Xin in many of his fights.
I just wish more folks would’ve attended. This audience reminded me of the early days when I went to IFS and there’d be 15 of us. Probably 25 or so tonight. At least they enjoyed it from their reactions. Was surprised that this was Jason’s first time seeing it, especially after his intro where he said he is a fan of these [martial arts] films.
Ofc now I wanna revisit Li’s classic films again.
