Viewing Notes
Yep 100 percent my kind of fantasy action adventure, unlike that Russian Xmas Mage flick. I dunno why I like these kinds of movies over others but they just work for me. Plus having Zhang Zixuan in a lead role helps. She’s a lot of fun here if barely convincing as a martial artist. The bicycle / motorbike chase is hilarious. The end is rather abrupt and doesn’t really conclude the story they are telling so I wonder if there will be a sequel.
The BTS footage shown during the credits is great. I really wish these (Francis Nam) movies would get a BD release with all the extras. I’m fascinated with how these movies are made on those massive soundstages in China. I hope they re-use the one they built for this movie. It’s enormous.
