Disappointed that Criterion didn’t include this featurette in their release (found it on YT). Couldn’t watch a proper David Lynch feature last night coming home from the 3.5 hour The Brutalist but I knew Mulholland Drive was on my short list. After reading Naomi’s comments today, which I retweeted, it was a done deal; I was going to watch it tonight.
What is so neat about this behind the scenes look at the filmmaking is how each lead actor speaks so glowingly of David Lynch. Naomi’s comments, in particular, were the same then as they are today. Laura says this was the first time a director directed her, “he’s an actor’s director.”
Beautiful to see and of course hear the man himself talk about making this incredible film. Why Criterion why did you not secure the rights for this?!?
