Bought this Blu-ray as I was walking out of the theater after seeing Part 2 a few days ago. I really should’ve watched this again prior to Part 2 but I didn’t make the time (it’s currently streaming on Prime). Despite watching this in IMAX just over a year ago I didn’t recall most of it which sucks. However it was like watching a brand new movie and I could make the connections from Part 2 back to this one. My opinion on this improved thanks to that.
The gist of this 2.5 hour epic is that the fox demon corrupts an already easily corruptible man who wants to rule the world. Everyone around him hence gets fucked over bc of his greed and ambition and lust for the fox demon.
Now I can go back and see Part 2 again in the big screen now that I understand how things came to be in that next installment. There’s two post-credits scenes that set up the events in Part 2 including the intro of General Deng.
