Grim (1985)

Directed by Takashi Ito

Experimental | Supernatural | Short

Overview

“With this work, I developed/fleshed out the idea I had when making GHOST of peeling only the skin from various objects in the room, floating the skins in midair and then sticking them on different objects. This film was also shot entirely frame-by-frame with long-exposures. Along with GRIM, its meaning is ‘as if to do forever.’” - Takashi Ito

Viewing Notes

My Japanese experimental short film of the day, back to Takashi Ito and this proto-J-horror done as an experimental short. Wouldn’t be surprised if Kiyoshi Kurosawa was influenced by this one.

Would be a huge undertaking but it’d be neat for a boutique label to release the short films by these Japanese creators. Would love to have an Ito set, Matsumoto set, Yuri set and Tanaami set.
