Romance | Action

Overview

At the end of the TV series of the same name, it is revealed that the husband works for the Public Security Bureau, and their marriage is a cover to keep her under surveillance. In spite of his mission, he falls in love with Nami and tries to convince her not to get involved in other people’s affairs. She is being monitored as a state-level security risk, and the bureau is unwilling to tolerate any more trouble from her. However, to save a friend, Nami runs out of the house and risks everything she has to confront the enemy. When she comes home, she finds her husband pointing a gun at her! A gunshot echoes through the quiet, upscale neighborhood…The movie picks up where the controversial ending of the drama series left off!!

Viewing Notes

Another husband & wife secret identity story *and* a memory loss subplot, second in as many days! Listed as comedy but there’s really no humor in this. Perhaps the TV show that proceeded this was funny but this movie is not a comedy. Also, it feels like this story in the movie would be better served by a series.

Haruka Ayase (Cyborg She) is the wife with amnesia. She was a secret agent but loses her memory after an incident. This is one of the opening scenes in the movie. Her husband, Hidetoshi Nishijima (Drive My Car) was her partner and now keeps on eye on her in case her memory returns. They live in the quiet coastal town of Tamami that is dealing some local political issues.

ofc the wife has dreams and flashbacks of her former life so you know she’s eventually gonna remember. Then she gets involved w/the local issues all while the Russia mercenaries want revenge. Again, this could’ve easily been another 10 episode tv show like the original run.

I like Haruka Ayase in kickass mode, showing off some of the skills she picked up in Cyborg She. But a lot of the action direction and choreography is average. But it probably looks great to most viewers who don’t watch many action films, which is the intended audience, I suppose. It’s fine just not all that creative for a character that’s suppose to be a super agent.

This is a soft seven out of ten because I like the two lead actors a lot and the story is good.
