Guess I need to start watching the Daughter of Lupin tv series on Prime!
Kyoko Fukada stars as the titular character and wow, just wow. It’s amusing that her “mother” in the movie / tv show is only 6 years older IRL. Both look extraordinarily young. I seriously thought Fukada was mid-20s but she was 38 when this movie was released. She’s done some action work in the past incl. Miike’s fun Yatterman flick. She’s terrific in this and stunning, to boot.
Movie also features Kanna Hashimoto, another of the Lupin family. She’s the “owl girl” in the KINGDOM films so it was cool to her again. Movie has a large cast most of which are not listed at TMDb for whatever reason, incl. the primary villain of this story.
I’d love to have a nice version of this on Blu-ray bc it’s colorful and silly and has some fun action beats. I found it on Dailymotion with a not-so-hot transfer and poor subtitles. It’s baffling that this movie is not available on Prime yet the tv series is. I’m sure there’s a good reason for this ::eyeroll::
Maybe there’s a Chinese bootleg? ;-)
