Viewing Notes

In the subgenre of “young people make bad decisions and pay for it.” Just one bad decision after another. Part of me likes that we learn of their plight (being runaways and stealing to survive) organically but I wish we had a little more of their background and story to care about them. Because let me tell you, I did not give a shit about these dumbass young people. Yet the entire premise kind of depends on that.

Fortunately I really do like Ma Dong-seok and his character; he’s just a family guy running a karaoke bar w/an underground escort service. These kids try to fuck with him and yep, not good. Given this is a Korean movie I expected even worse than what happens, which is still bad, but they could’ve really gotten more gruesome and dark with all parties involved.
