Deep in the Himalayas, a group of sherpas kills a gigantic humanoid creature. Convinced that it is the legendary Yeti, Dr. Claire Collier organizes an expedition with her former student Matt Connor and hunter Rondo Montana, among others, to search for more specimens. Did not know that this was a movie that was started years ago and only recently finished. There’s a doc about this but apparently missing all the pertinent info about Charles Band’s involvement or disinvolvement with the movie. That stinks bc I’d like to know more about this movie and the history. The stop motion is a lot of fun and a throwback to the Harryhausens of the world. The story is another Journey to the Center of the Earth. It’s just okay.
holy shit:
“The project began as Raiders of the Stone Ring in the late 1960s, with Allen, Dennis Muren, and Jim Danforth involved. It evolved into a full-length film script by 1975 and was pitched to Charles Band in 1978.”
“Filming took place in 1994, but the film was not completed until 2023, after Allen’s death in 1999.”
